MACOLAP 21st Annual Lake and Pond Management Workshop

Hi everyone,

I've been to these workshops before and they are very educational. There are tables and booths with lots of free informative brochures. In most cases, you can take as many as you want. The lunch is usually very good. It is an excellent opportunity for networking. I see there is quite a bit on invasive species. I don't recall the name of the person who was so interested in that but she may want to attend. I will be going. The COLAP President, Al Collings, has been most helpful to me and I look forward to meeting him in person.

             Massachusetts Watershed Coalition Annual Meeting
January 31, 2008, 5-8 p.m. at TTOR’s Doyle Conservation Center, Leominster
                       Community Stormwater Advocacy

Stormwater runoff washes tons of toxic materials into streams that stress
fish and wreak havoc on ecosystems. Increased runoff from developed areas
also erodes streams, reduces groundwater recharge of stream flows, and
creates lethal conditions for aquatic life. Stormwater from development is
the leading cause for the pollution and flooding that damage property,
contaminate drinking water, and impair community uses of local brooks,
lakes and ponds.
The January 31 meeting panelists will discuss federal requirements, and the
new state standards that favor better design and on-site retention over
conventional stormwater treatment. As outlined below, concurrent workshops
will offer guidance for watershed groups, lake associations, town
officials, home-builders and engineers, which can help prevent damages and
renew the health of local waters. The meeting is free, and
pre-registration is requested. For more information, please call (978)
534-0379 or email mwc@commonwaters.org.
