Island photos

It is rumored that long ago somebody used to live on the island but we haven't yet learned if this is a fact.  However if you look around the island there are definite signs that it may have been true!

In the middle of the island hanging from a tree is an old authentic lamp socket with a short pull chain!

Now how many of you have been on this island and have actually come across this?

This lamp socket is at about 6 feet off the ground.  Its' discoloring indicates that it has been here for many years.

Walk around the island a while and you may discover a few steps.  Steps can be found at several different places indicating that a number of separate structures used to exist there.  The next two photos show our favorite one.  You can see the remains of the wall along the front.  There are footings around the perimeter where this structure used to sit out above the water.  Two of the footings are actually made of steel and appear to have supported the center of the structure.  One of them can clearly be seen in this photo while the other one is blocked from view by branches.

You can see the remains of a chimney on the left side in this picture.
