· Meeting called to order. · Motion made to accept June meeting minutes. Motion seconded. Minutes accepted. · Stormwater Update – Shirley S. Shirley read parts from the Mass Highway Engineer's email message: I wanted to give you an update on our efforts. It looks like there are a number of causes for the sedimentation at this outfall. Roadway sanding and erosion from upland areas across Route 16 are likely source contributors to the deposition. Additionally, there is some erosion at the point where the outfall pipe that was added has become disconnected from the original storm water system, as well as scour from the outfall itself where the lake bed has been disturbed. One possible solution discussed at the field meeting was to redirect the outfall to the natural basin along Route 16. However, that isn’t feasible given the inverts of the existing storm water system. Our next steps are to look at the benefit to installing deep sump catch basins at the low points of the system and to ascertain whether or not we can get equipment to the shoreline to remove the sediment that has built up. Accessing and working near the shoreline will require cooperation from abutters. Additionally, the erosion from the cell tower driveway will have to be addressed before the sediments are removed at the outfall. We will coordinate with both the abutters and the Conservation Commission regarding these issues. There is question that has come up that you may be able to help us with. Is there any type of draw down of the lake? If not, can you give me a sense of how the water level fluctuates over the course of the season? Shirley’s response: I did find some answers to your question about whether or not there is any type of draw down of the lake. Alan Tetreault, our Highway Surveyor, says you should call him on this. He has entire files on this that go way back and he has intimate knowledge of the situation. Also since the involved dam is owned by Blaine Hawkes, Blaine's daughter-in-law, Linda, is Alan's secretary and is very familiar with this. Alan's phone number at the Highway Barn is 508 473 0737. His email is highwaydpt@mendonma.net The lake residents tell me that the water fluctuation depends on how much rain we have. · Lake Monitoring – Shirley S. I reviewed the parameters, locations of high E. coli and phosphate readings, testing schedule, sharing of information with the BOH, and essentially what is in the newsletter. · Goose committee – passed around print outs from various goose control websites. Opinions differed as to whether or not the geese were a problem. · Newsletter update – We all worked on putting together the newsletter in preparation for mailing and distribution around town. I will leave copies at the post office, town hall and library. · The BOH will notify Ted and he will post E. coli/ beach or lake closing notices on the website. · Meeting adjourned at approximately 9pm
