Lake Nipmuc Association Meeting

Mendon Senior Center

·         Meeting opened at 7:00pm.

·         Minutes of April meeting  – minutes accepted as read

·         New membership update

·         Treasurer’s report - $1,227.62

·         Stormwater Issue - Mass Highway is in the process of getting the necessary permits from the Conservation Commission to dredge the tons of sand and sediment from the lake off 1 Old Taft Ave.

·         Lake Monitoring - Tammy Gilpatrick of Blackstone River Coalition wants to begin testing. She wants to do some new locations but they will only be accessible from the water. Ileen's boat will not be ready until the first of June so we will coordinate with Tammy on when and where to test.

Aquatic Technologies went to Con Com and indicated that the Lake Association was interested in paying for the eradication of the water lilies. This is not true. We only asked for information. There was a discussion of mapping the locations of the lilies and exploring the option of hand pulling.

The Association wants to find out from the Board of Health when Aquatic Technologies is going to treat the weeds as some members would like to observe. 

There was a discussion about placing a trash receptacle on the island to help keep it clean

·         Other Business : Ileen and Shirley plan to replace the pansies (Town Hall Planters) with red geraniums and trailing ivy over the Memorial Day weekend.
